A friend of mine, Kimberley Kepore, is screening her award winning film again next Thursday at Moresby Arts Theatre.
Finding out about friends through past projects is really exciting. I'm looking forward to the re-screening of the 2002 documentary. She's chosen to do this to gauge how interested and switched on today's youth are when it comes to politics in PNG. There'll be a discussion and panel after the screening.
With the 2012 elections pretty much around the corner, it's our youth that'll be taking the reigns, and it's a scary thought that the reality might be that they're not prepared. I'm in my thirties now. I'm no longer a youth. I wonder what today's youth are doing about government; how much they understand.
The film covers the feud and tribal rift between two Apulin kinsmen during the 2002 elections in Enga.
"The contest between these two men will not only divide the Apulin, but also spark a contest between ancient and modern worlds."
I won't pretend I know much more than that until I've seen it.
