the pink of taipei

Living in Taipei, there are many things that i take for granted as just normal everyday sights that people all over the world experience. I've been here so long that i forget that we don't have some of these "things" back home, so today's topic is - PINK.

It's everywhere and everything here. Looking at my wardrobe i can see a lot of it and i never EVER wore pink before. Pink tops, pink sweaters, socks, and sadly a pair of shoes. Can you imagine?? Men wear pink with more confidence here than i've ever seen before in my life (perhaps that's a global thing these days though, i can't be sure)
In the shopping districts it's unavoidable. Check out these snapshots from the weekend.

I've just realised that these things - other than the shoe stores - are pretty alien too..

I am walking evidence that society can brainwash us into believing certain behaviour is acceptable - prejudices, racism, machoism, domestic abuse, war so-long-as-it's-not-local, and wearing pink.

I'm going to have to train myself to wear other colours and it's probably best that i get rid of most of the pink before i return home, or leave asia as i will be doing before returning home..
